A Legacy of Generations
The Konrat estate represents the perfect symbiosis between two worlds of wine expertise: centuries-old winemakers from Champagne and tonneliers from the Anjou region. The family made its history in the high-altitude vineyards of Montigny-sous-Châtillon. With horse and plow, they worked their land, built their own press, and created a wine cellar where natural fermentation in wooden barrels took center stage. Their goal was clear: to produce a champagne of exceptional quality, from vineyard to bottle.
Today, Marc, a fourth-generation winemaker, proudly carries on this legacy. Together with Faustine, he combines traditional expertise with modern precision, resulting in champagnes that are both authentic and surprisingly contemporary.
A Terroir with Distinctive Character
With 7 hectares of sandy-limestone and clay-limestone soils in a single commune, Domaine Konrat offers ideal conditions for elegant champagnes with a distinctive identity:
● The south and west slopes provide warmth and ripeness
● The north and east exposures bring freshness and minerality
● Top Cuvées are created in vineyards such as "Le Clos des Menues Raies" and "La Pierre Saint-Philippe"
The unique sand in the soil gives the wines their characteristic refinement, while the limestone soil provides depth and complexity.
A Clear Philosophy
Champagne Konrat adheres to three unwavering principles:
1. Each grape is carefully selected
2. Each cuvée tells a unique story
3. Time is an essential part of the process
The estate is currently in transition to organic certification, with a full focus on local production from grape to final product.
